One of the many benefits of living and working in Prince Edward County is the tremendous community of creatives who lend their talents to the library for programming.

Professional animator Nicole Breedlyk will join us on Friday, July 12 at 2 p.m. at the Bloomfield Branch Library to lead a workshop all about animation. Participants will create their own flipbook and learn tips and tricks to make their drawings come to life. In addition, she will answer any questions participants might have about what it’s like to work in the field.  This workshop is best for ages ten and up, and interested participants can register on the library website peclibrary.org or by calling the Bloomfield Branch at (613) 393-3400.

On Saturday, July 13 we are delighted to welcome participants from Music at Port Milford to the front lawn at the Picton Branch. Their event, called “Port Milford Takes to the Streets” will bring young chamber musicians to locations across Picton’s Main Street. Now in it’s 38^th season, this program brings exceptional chamber musicians to the area and we have been fortunate to host them outside the library one day each summer for the past several years. On Thursday, July 18 at 1 p.m., we’ll host “A Listener’s Guide to Mozart’s Chamber Music with Professor Dorian Bandy and Friends” at the Picton Branch. Hosted by McGill Professor Dorian Bandy, author of Mozart the Performer: Variations on the Showman’s Art, with music from Music at Port Milford’s resident artists in advance of their Saturday night concert at St. Mary Magdalene.

On Saturday, July 27,  at 3 p.m. Industrial Designer Sandro Zaccolo will offer a workshop about 3D Printing and Design.  He’s an adjunct professor at Loyalist and teaches sustainable design and innovation.  He explains that “industrial design is product design… I started my career with Irwin Toys, designing sports equipment,” and he went on to a 20+ year career designing for various industries.  He has a knack for explaining the concepts of his industry in a comprehensible way, regardless of the tech background you have, and this talk is sure to be a great introduction to the topics.  All are welcome.
